Dr. Shu Schiller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems and Operations Management at Wright State University. She holds a Ph.D. Degree in Business Administration with the concentration on Management Information Systems from the Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University. She earned her Master's Degree in Management Science and Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science at Beijing Institute of Technology. Before she came to the U.S., she worked in TopSun Network & Computer Technology Co. in Beijing, as a system analyst, development programmer and project manager.
Dr. Schiller’s research interests include virtual reality and its applications in consumer behavior and team collaboration, virtual teams and communities, online customer services and communication, instant messaging, web-enhanced teaching and learning, Information Systems (IS) theories, and qualitative IS research. Her dissertation, granted by the Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute at Temple University, studied the online customer service through instant chats. Her early publications appeared in refereed Chinese journals covering various topics on Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Her recent publications have been included in proceedings of the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) and appeared in the journals of Small Group Research, Journal of Virtual Worlds Research, Journal of Information Systems Education, and Information Systems Frontiers.
Dr. Schiller is the recipient of the Award of the Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology at the 2008 International Conference on College Teaching and Learning. Dr. Schiller’s research project, titled Virtual Teams in Virtual Worlds: The Investigation of Collaborative Team Behavior Supported by Non-Immersive Virtual Reality, received a $9,500 funding awarded by the Research and Sponsored Program of Wright State University in 2008.
